desmume

DeSmuME (also known as YopYop DS) is a open source emulator for the Nintendo DS created by YopYop156 licensed under GPL. The original DeSmuME is written in C++ for Linux, Mac OS and Windows. It has also been ported to other systems such as the PlayStation Portable. It can play Nintendo DS homebrew and commercial roms. Later versions are multiplatform and contain multiple user interfaces. Its name is derived from emu which is short for emulator, DS and me. It’s possibly supposed to mean “DS emulator for me”.

The original DeSmuME
The original emulator itself was in French (with user translations to English and other languages). It supported many homebrew Nintendo DS rom demos as well as a handful of Wireless Multiboot demo roms.
YopYop stopped development on DeSmuME, at version 0.3.3, due to a change of laws regarding emulation in France. However, the source code was released.

Several developers initially released unofficial builds of DeSmuME based on YopYop original code. These various developers later united and merged their work. DeSmuME now supports save states and the ability to increase the size of the screen.
